Come backstage at Derby Theatre and explore how the Theatre works, take part in free activities and learn more about what we do. There will be a range of activities, including crafts, face painting, dress up, backstage tours and workshops. Olivier Jamin will be running a drop in art workshop throughout the day. See list of bookable workshops/events below, all events are free to attend. 

Backstage Tour

Joins us backstage at Derby Theatre for a sneak peak into the workings of the Theatre. Please make us aware at time of booking if you are a wheelchair user or have limited mobility so that we can make the necessary amendments to the tour route.

Tours last approximatly 30 minutes and take place at the following times: 11:15am, 1pm & 2:45pm

Dance Workshop with Billy Read

Join Deaf dancer Billy Read, Billy is a fresh, exciting choreographer, and an inspiring teacher of dance. 

11am - 11:45am (10-18 years) & 1:35pm - 2:20pm (18+)

Dragon Taming Workshop with Taking Flight Theatre Company

Join Taking Flight Theatre company for their specially designed activity which explores creative ways to combat anxiety. The Dragon Taming Workshops have been developed in conjunction with clinical psychologists. Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult.

Derby Theatre Deaf Friendly Youth Theatre Workshop

A drama workshop led by Janeene Streather and Tom Craig, giving a taster of our Deaf Friendly Youth Theatre. The group runs weekly during term time Wednesdays 5:00-6:30pm, it is open to young people aged 10-15 years who are Deaf, deafened or hard of hearing, and their friends/siblings. The group will work towards a performance to be presented on a Derby Theatre stage in July 2020.
